The Lotus Project

The Lotus Project is a collaboration between The Center for Health Training (CHT) and Women Organized to Respond to Life Threatening Disease (WORLD) to develop and implement a Peer Advocacy Education Trainings program across the country. The program focuses women and provides trainees with knowledge and skills to address the disproportionate impact of HIV on women of color in the US.

Trainings and Outreach

The Lotus Project collaborates with local women’s HIV organizations in different communities around the country to recruit and implement a 5 Day Peer Education Training.

Capacity building and technical assistance is also provided to these organizations and other AIDS Service Organizations to create or expand their peer programs. The project also provides information on ways to manage, sustain, and market a peer advocacy program.

Benefits of project to the community

The goal is to train women to be able to provide outreach, education, and support as part of a care team and to assist HIV+ women to get into and/or continue care and treatment.
