Program mission: Provide emotional and practical support to women living with HIV/AIDS and encourage women to advocate for themselves

Work Schedule: Part time, 20-35 hours/week

Compensation: Peers are paid an hourly rate and are offered health insurance

Peer responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one emotional and practical support to women living with HIV
  • Facilitate support groups
  • Stay abreast of treatment trends, provide non-directive information to clients
  • Help train new peer advocates
  • Provide consumer input to the medical community
  • Serve on WORLD’s Speakers Bureau

Success measures: Adherence to care and treatment, more effective coordination of care among agencies serving HIV positive women
