Video: The Peer Program makes a big difference…

Leo, a client at Kansas City Free Health Clinic, doesn’t always feel comfortable bringing up issues with his HIV care provider. He has a lot to cope with: depression, diabetes, HIV. Jerry, a peer educator at the clinic, has been working with Leo for about a year. Together, they have identified strategies to help Leo communicate more effectively with his doctor, manage his HIV treatment, and more. View the video to hear their story in their own words.

This is the story of how one peer educator supports one client’s efforts to manage his HIV self-care. It does not represent all peers and clients, nor does it portray all the ways peers help clients cope with the daily stresses of living with HIV.
