New journal article based on peer interviews
The July issue of AIDS Patient Care and STDs published the following article:
Written by staff members involved in the Peer Education and Training Sites/Resource and Evaluation Center (PETS/REC) initiative that the PEER Center is part of, this article uses qualitative research analysis to describe peer support in HIV care and treatment from the perspective of 23 HIV-positive peers across the United States. It describes the peer role as going beyond HIV care to address clients’ social, emotional, and physical needs more broadly and recommends that peer programs and evaluations acknowledge the need for activities that are not always directly related to client’s HIV care and treatment.
