Do you offer peer training?
The peer education training sites are not currently doing direct training of peers, but rather are working with organizations to help them develop capacity to train their own peers. We have developed a training of trainers toolkit to support the training of HIV-positive peers who work to engage and retain people living with HIV in health care. Intended for experienced trainers to design, enhance or refine their own training of peers, this toolkit includes a toolkit guide, sample curricula, and hundreds of lesson modules drawn from four peer training programs that have successfully implemented trainings in the field.
If agency staff is not prepared to conduct trainings, there are many agencies that provide peer training. For further opportunities for training that may be suitable for peers and consumers, consult the Target Center website (http://www.careacttarget.org/), which provides technical assistance for the Ryan White community.
