How do you evaluate the effectiveness of your programs?
At Kansas City Free Health Clinic, the program is evaluated and monitored using monthly/quarterly reports and client satisfaction surveys that measure knowledge, attitude, and behavior (KAB). A pre- and post-reflective survey designed to measure change is used for clients. A post-reflective survey for the monthly support group and the quarterly group is used to learn more about the impact of the sessions.
At WORLD, the success of peer work is evaluated through question-and-answer sessions, yearly evaluations by supervisors, as well as success stories from our clients.
The peer program at Harlem Hospital originated from research funding, therefore it uses more formal evaluation techniques, comparing outcomes (adherence, viral load, appointment-keeping, etc.) between clients having been assigned a peer worker and clients who were not, in addition to the methods described above.
