Do you require that your peers be on a drug regimen?
The Harlem Hospital program requires that peers be on a drug regimen, because they serve as role models to clients who are being encouraged to become adherent to HIV medications. At the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and WORLD programs, this is not a requirement if the peer’s physician agrees that the peer does not need to be on medication. All three programs require that the peer be engaged in primary medical care.
