Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN)search for term: As defined by MCHB, children with special health care needs (CSHCN) are those from birth to age 21 who have, or are at increased risk for, chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions and need health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally. Also referred to as Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN).
